If you earn less than £58,000 per annum you could receive child tax credits

Child tax credits top up the income of families who have children under 16 (or under 20 in full time education or on an approved training program) and whose combined earnings are less than £58,000 per annum (or £66,000 if there is a child under 1 year old). You can claim whether or not you are in work. For more information click here.
