.....you no longer need a company secretary?
The rules regarding limited companies were changed in 2008 so that there is no longer a 
requirement to have a company secretary. Until then all private limited companies needed to have a company secretary in addition to at least one director and they couldn't both be the same person.
That's now changed and private limited companies are allowed to operate with only a single director. This doesn't mean that the role typically undertaken by the company secretary has disappeared - preparing minutes of board meetings e.g. when a dividend is declared or preparing and filing the company's annual return to Companies House (this is one of two filing obligations each year at along with the annual accounts).
The other issue to consider in deciding to dispense with the role of the company secretary is what to do if someting happens to the only director. The company is then left in the unfortunate position of not having an officer to be able to sign official documentation.
